Supported platforms
What Trove searches and what is not covered — so you know exactly what to expect before you type anything.
Where Trove searches
A Trove search queries these eight platforms at once. Turn any of them off with the provider chips when you only want results from a subset.
Each card shows the platform name and a one-line note on what it supports. The icons are the property of their respective owners and are used here only to help you identify the source.
What search covers
Search is limited to the eight platforms above. That is the aggregated, one-box experience: your server asks each of them for matching videos and merges the replies into a single grid. Provider chips control which of them take part in any given query.
How download differs
Download is much broader. When you paste a direct link, Trove
hands the URL to yt-dlp, which supports hundreds of sites far beyond
the search list. If you have a URL from a platform that Trove does not search,
there is a good chance the direct-link path will still resolve it and offer you
video, audio or image formats. Availability always depends on what the source
site serves at that moment.
Downloads are prepared on your own server and streamed to you with a progress bar and a cancel button, and the output is normalised so it plays in QuickTime and VLC. For the mechanics behind that, read How Trove works.
A note on TikTok
TikTok is the one search source that sometimes comes up empty. TikTok frequently
requires an authenticated session to return results to an automated request, so
the operator may need to supply a cookies.txt session export on the
server before TikTok results appear. If every other platform returns results and
TikTok does not, this is almost certainly the reason. It is a limitation of how
TikTok currently behaves, not a fault in your query.
No affiliation, and things change
Trove is an independent, self-hosted tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by YouTube, Vimeo, DailyMotion, Rumble, TikTok, BlueSky, Pinterest, Threads or any other platform named on this page, and all trademarks belong to their respective owners. Results are fetched from public pages at your request; Trove does not host the videos itself.
Platforms rewrite their sites, change their APIs and add rate limits without
telling anyone, so support for a particular site can appear, break or change
without notice here as well. If something stops working, keep your
yt-dlp installation up to date first, then see the
FAQ for troubleshooting or use the
contact page to report it.
