Terms of Service

The terms that apply when you use Trove, in plain English: what the service is, what you may do with it, and the limits of our responsibility.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Trove — the site at trove.video, the mobile apps and any self-hosted deployment (the "service"). "Trove" and "the operator" mean whoever runs the deployment you are using.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By using the service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Acceptable Use Policy, which are incorporated here by reference. If you do not agree with any part of them, you must not use the service.

2. Who may use Trove

You may use the service only if you are at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction if that is higher, and legally capable of entering a binding agreement. The service is not directed at children, and you must comply with the laws that apply where you live.

3. The service

Trove is provided free of charge. It is self-hosted software: searches are processed on the server chosen by the operator of that deployment, and the interface is made available as-is. We may add, change or remove features, limit usage, or discontinue the service entirely at any time. Platforms also change their sites without warning, so results or downloads may fail.

4. Your account and credentials

Trove has no accounts, registration or passwords, so there are no credentials to protect or reset. Some platforms require an authenticated session before they answer automated requests. If you supply session cookies to a server you operate, you do so at your own risk and must keep them secret and revoke them yourself. Never send credentials to a deployment you do not control.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use the service lawfully and not to interfere with it, overload it, or use it to harm other people or platforms. The full rules are in our Acceptable Use Policy; breaching them is a breach of these Terms.

Trove is a search and navigation tool. It does not host the videos you find and grants you no rights in any content. You are responsible for what you search for, open and download, and for having the right to do so. Rights holders should follow our Copyright & DMCA page.

7. No warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that any download will succeed.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Trove and the operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits or data, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for all claims is limited to what you have paid us: zero, because the service is free. Nothing excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Trove and the operator from claims, damages, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the service or your breach of these Terms.

10. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time; there is nothing to cancel. We may suspend or block access for anyone at our discretion, including for conduct that breaches these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or where required by law. Provisions meant to survive termination do survive it.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time; the current version is always published on this page with its revision date at the bottom. Material changes take effect when posted, and continued use means you accept them.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes go exclusively to the courts of that jurisdiction, and if any provision is unenforceable the rest continue in force.

13. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent through the contact page. See the Privacy Policy for privacy matters and Copyright & DMCA for copyright notices.
